Summary/Abstract: Kastamonu is a settlement center with cultural diversity, having been a crossroads of various civilizations. The artifacts in the Kastamonu Archaeology Museum bear the traces of these civilizations. The majority of the stone artifacts in the museum are displayed in two separate halls, one in the museum's garden and the other inside. The museum houses lion sculptures, tomb steles, and sarcophagi obtained from the region, as well as architectural elements such as columns, column bases, column capitals, and pediments. The stonework on the tombstones and architectural fragments employs carving, engraving, and relief techniques; decorative elements include plant, animal, geometric motifs, and human figures. The general aim of this study is to determine the motif characteristics on the steles, sarcophagi, and architectural fragments in the Kastamonu Archaeology Museum, and to create jewelry designs and applications inspired by these motifs. Furthermore, the study aims to create a permanent visual record of the artifacts by making drawings to protect them from deterioration and to ensure that the motif characteristics found in the artifacts are preserved for future generations. The universe of this research consists of stone artifacts from the Kastamonu Archaeology Museum, and the sample comprises motifs on sarcophagi, steles, and architectural fragments randomly selected from the museum. To achieve the study's objectives, scaled photographs of the selected artifacts were taken, inventory forms were examined, and information about the artifacts was obtained from museum staff. Eight artifacts were drawn using the Rhinoceros drawing program, and eight pieces of jewelry were designed using the motifs found on them. These designs were then implemented using jewelry and ceramic surface relief techniques. By examining the motifs on stone artifacts within the context of jewelry design, this study offers a unique and interdisciplinary contribution to the literature on the relationship between local archaeological heritage and contemporary art and design practices. The main objective of the research is to ensure the transmission of the motif characteristics of the stone artifacts in the Kastamonu Archaeology Museum to future generations and to preserve the contemporary importance of these motifs.
