INTEGRATING FLOOD MONITORING TECHNOLOGIES INTO EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS: A STRATEGIC PERSPECTIVE

Summary/Abstract: The paper addresses floods as a major natural hazard in Romania and analyzes the role of integrating modern technologies into emergency management systems. The main relevant national and European legislative regulations in the field are analyzed, along with technological solutions such as sensor networks, satellite images and GIS-type information systems. The analysis highlights the importance of institutional collaboration and the digitalization of the decision-making process in all stages of risk management. The need to develop an integrated infrastructure, capable of providing a rapid and efficient response to extreme phenomena, especially in the context of climate change, is emphasized. The findings indicate strategic directions for optimizing intervention, through the intelligent use of data and technology in support of emergency management.
