LAW ENFORCEMENT COOPERATION IN COMBATING CYBERCRIME

Summary/Abstract: Cybercrime poses increasingly complex and transnational threats, requiring coordinated responses from law enforcement authorities. This article examines the evolution of cybercrime, the operational and legislative mechanisms enabling international cooperation, and the role of institutions such as Europol, Eurojust, Interpol and specialized national units. It highlights the importance of joint investigation teams, secure communication channels, harmonized legal frameworks, and emerging technologies in supporting cyber investigations. The study also presents a case involving Romania’s participation in a multinational operation against a ransomware group, illustrating the practical value of coordinated action. The conclusions emphasize the need for continuous training, interoperability of databases, and standardized protocols to ensure effective prevention and response to cyber incidents.
