Summary/Abstract: Energy in the Balkans is not merely a resource but a strategic variable shaping alliances, dependencies, tensions, and political decisions. This article examines how energy security has become a central pillar of national and regional stability, influenced by the interests of state and non‑state actors, geopolitical competition, infrastructural vulnerabilities, and hybrid threats. The study highlights the role of major energy projects, external actors (EU, Russia, USA, China, Turkey), and the operational preparedness of public order and national security institutions in managing crises caused by energy disruptions or geopolitical manipulation.
