MEASURES TO ENSURE THE ADMINISTRATIVE AND LEGAL STATUS OF REFUGEES IN THE ACTIVITIES OF THE INTERNAL AFFAIRS BODIES OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the legal and administrative mechanisms through which the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Moldova ensure the administrative and legal status of refugees and forcibly displaced persons. The study identifies the institutional role of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its subordinate structures—particularly the General Inspectorate for Migration and the National Police—in implementing the legal framework on international protection. The findings confirm that the effectiveness of the protection system depends on inter-institutional cooperation, professional training of staff, and consistent application of rule-of-law principles. The study also emphasizes the importance of police ethics and legal oversight of coercive measures in refugee protection. Recommendations are provided for strengthening institutional coordination and improving mechanisms to ensure dignified and effective protection for asylum beneficiaries.
