Summary/Abstract: This scientific article examines the role, importance, and correlation between the forensic expert report and the technical-scientific or medico-legal report as means of evidence in the criminal process. Although the nature and essence of the forensic expert report as evidence remain a current topic, the legal norms regulating this institution are not fully harmonized. The forensic expert is a qualified and legally authorized person registered in the State Register of judicial experts, competent to issue conclusions on facts, circumstances, objects, phenomena, processes, and aspects related to the human body and psyche. Following the disposition of judicial expertise, the expert formulates conclusions in a forensic expert report, which constitutes a means of evidence in the criminal process. The article highlights the differences between expert reports and technical-scientific or medico-legal findings, the need for clearer regulation, and the importance of ensuring procedural guarantees for participants in the criminal process.
