Summary/Abstract: This qualitative study, which examines the artistic life of İrfan Özbakır, a post-Republican classical Turkish music composer, and the maqam analysis of three of his works composed in different makams, utilizes literature review, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis methods for field research. The conceptual and theoretical framework for the study was established through this literature review. To obtain information about İrfan Özbakır's life, a semi-structured interview was conducted with the composer's son, Ziya Ümit Özbakır. Field research led to the discovery of a score index written in İrfan Özbakır's own handwriting. Three works with different makam structures selected from this score index were examined within the framework of classical Turkish music theory and their maqam analyses were conducted. In light of the findings of the study, it was concluded that İrfan Özbakır made significant contributions to Turkish music not only as a composer but also as an educator and performer. İrfan Özbakır, who made significant contributions to the training of numerous vocal artists such as Emel Sayın, Ayşe Tunalı, Muazzez Ersoy, and Sinan Özer at the private music school he founded in Istanbul, has been identified as accompanying prominent vocalists such as Zeki Müren, Bülent Ersoy, Muazzez Abacı, Behiye Aksoy, Gönül Yazar, and Gönül Akkor on his instruments on stages both in Turkey and abroad. Another finding of the study is that İrfan Özbakır's works, for which maqam analyses were carried out within the scope of the study, were composed in accordance with the Turkish music composition approach of the period.
