Summary/Abstract: This study examines the digitalization trends, news categories, and framing approaches of local newspapers published in Türkiye’s Black Sea Region. Content analysis was conducted on approximately 220 news items from 20 local newspapers operating in Trabzon, Samsun, Ordu, and Giresun through their websites and digital platforms. The findings indicate that politics and sports remain the most dominant news categories, while agriculture, environment, and cultural events are more prominent in Ordu and Giresun. Regarding the emotional tone of the news, neutral and negative content prevails, whereas positive news remains limited. In terms of framing, the most frequently observed approaches were responsibility attribution and human-interest frames. Furthermore, the majority of newspapers actively use websites and social media platforms, diversifying their publications with digital tools such as videos and e-newspapers. Overall, the results show that while local press in the Black Sea Region adopts digital media tools to reach wider audiences, they continue to maintain content strategies shaped by regional identity and local needs.
