Summary/Abstract: Adolescence is a period of intense psychological, emotional and social changes, which makes young people particularly vulnerable to risk factors such as the consumption of energy drinks. The popularity of these drinks is based on the perception of increased energy and alertness, but numerous studies point to negative consequences, including sleep disturbances, decreased concentration, increased stress, anxiety, depressive symptoms and suicidal thoughts. Of particular concern is combining energy drinks with alcohol, which increases the risk of impulsive and self-destructive behavior. The results of the research show that the majority of adolescents (68%) recognize the health risks, but almost half still believe in the positive effect of drinks, with differences according to gender, age and type of school. Young people more often report side effects and positive effects, older students emphasize the need for energy, and high school students associate consumption with social circumstances. This gap between knowledge and behavior highlights the need for integrated prevention strategies. Public health institutes play a key role through data monitoring, education, cooperation with schools and health institutions, and advocacy of regulatory measures. Only coordinated action can reduce the prevalence and long-term health consequences of the consumption of energy drinks in the adolescent population.
