Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present selected issues devoted to the peasant and judicial reforms on the pages of the "Gazeta Sądowa Warszawska" [Warsaw Legal Gazette] legal periodical. By simultaneously referring to the legal and naturalistic views of Józef Kasznica, a law professor, on the main features of law, arguments are presented which support the thesis that the peasant and court reforms in the Kingdom of Poland were largely a political creation and not a legal one. These included the issues characterized on the pages of "the Gazette" after the introduction of both reforms, such as: contradictions occurring in the legislation of the Kingdom of Poland; a lack of trust of lawyers living on the territories of the Kingdom of Poland in the new legal institutions; and the utilitarian, rather than deontological, character of the legal norms.
