On Lexicographic Awareness of Candidates for Polish Language Researchers (Based on Survey Research)

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of the survey concerning the usage of Polish language dictionaries. The research was carried out among Polish Philology students of the Silesian University in the year 2004. As the research shows, the respondents knowledge about the dictionaries is scarce and they usually own old dictionaries or the ones which are used in secondary schools. With reference to this, the authors suggest to focus more on the contemporary lexicographic supply on the market during academic classes on lexicology as well as lexicography.
