Summary/Abstract: This paper examines contemporary digital technologies in cultural heritage preservation and reconstruction, focusing on two innovative methods: Historic Building Information Modeling (HBIM) and Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF). Through a comparative case study of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Katolička Porta in Novi Sad, the study explores the applicability of these approaches in documenting, presenting, and planning restoration interventions for historical sacred structures. HBIM enables detailed modeling of architectural elements and precise information management, crucial for monitoring structural conditions and responding rapidly in crises, as after the Notre-Dame fire. NeRF, in contrast, uses neural networks to create photorealistic digital representations of complex architectural structures, enhancing the interpretation and presentation of heritage to the public, as shown by the Katolička Porta. The paper discusses the technical, aesthetic, and functional advantages and limitations of both approaches, highlighting the potential of integrating HBIM's precision with NeRF's visual capabilities. It also emphasizes the need for institutional support, standardization, and multidisciplinary collaboration for successful implementation. By comparing these methods, the study contributes to understanding their role in modern heritage conservation and offers recommendations for further applying digital technologies in sacred architecture.
