Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the problem of the master–disciple relationship formed during the Second Polish Republic, using the example of Professor Alfred Ohanowicz and his doctoral student, the advocate Stanisław Hejmowski. The rationale for undertaking this research was the need to interpret their biographies not merely as separate life stories, but as parallel and interdependent sequences of events. The study draws upon existing biographical scholarship as well as archival materials, including, for the first time, Ohanowicz's advocate files. Particular attention is devoted to the records concerning Hejmowski's doctoral proceedings and his scholarly activity. For both figures, family traditions of advocacy and upbringing in a multicultural environment prove significant. Their participation in the seminar further strengthened an openness to the arguments of opponents and the ability to persuade others of one's own reasoning. Ohanowicz is presented as an authority in the field of civil law and an esteemed mentor who shaped the ethos of future generations of lawyers. Hejmowski, in turn, entered history as an unwavering advocate, known among other things for defending the participants of the Poznań June 1956 protests.
