Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of this study is the analysis of a criminal act motivated by the pursuit of political gain. This objective is realized through a case study of Janusz Waluś, who assassinated Chris Hani, the leader of the South African Communist Party, in 1993. RESEARCH RESULTS: The study highlights the motivational discrepancies that distinguish Waluś from common criminals. Notably, his criminal conduct is neither driven by material gain nor personal gratification, nor is it fueled by anger. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: This paper may serve as a foundational starting point for further analyses of politically motivated assassinations.
