Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: Social capital is based on the values of mutual social relations and individuals' trust, supporting the mutual achievement of benefits. It belongs to a concept at the crossroads of economics, sociology, ethics, management, law and morality, which are shaped by the overall relations and interactions occurring both among people and within organizations. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem consists in analyzing the direction of changes occurring in the factors comprising social capital. Hence the importance of organizing key concepts, discussing classical interpretations, and critical opinions. The aim is to show the mechanisms of the impact of social capital on social, economic and political phenomena. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: Social capital is essential for social and economic development, as it supports the process of building trust, coordinating actions, and the willingness to share knowledge and resources, thereby strengthening social bonds. It fosters an increase in the quality of life of the whole society in two dimensions: (1) objective: measured by the level of prosperity, (2) subjective (measured by the sense of security and belonging or psychological comfort). RESEARCH RESULTS: The results suggest that although significant progress has been made in building social capital in Poland, certain gaps remain that are not solely a consequence of the political system transformation. The occurrence of systemic inequalities generates an increasing number of questions about ethics and sustainable action. CONCLUSIONS: The results indicate social capital as a factor of fundamental importance for an efficiently and effectively functioning society based on norms, trust and loyalty. Those states evolve which create economic policy coherence systems oriented toward sustainable development. INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The research indicated recommendations for actions conducive to increasing social capital. Among these, significant ones include: shaping cultural habits and expanding social roles in organizations.
