Summary/Abstract: This article examines how project management terminology used in information technology should be translated from English into Ukrainian when the target text must remain both professionally recognizable and linguistically clear. The research gap addressed here is the lack of an integrated discussion connecting English-Ukrainian IT terminology, project-management standards, and functional translation theory. The article is a conceptual and analytical study rather than a corpus-based empirical investigation. Its method combines secondary analysis of translation-studies literature, Ukrainian terminology scholarship, professional standards, and illustrative English-Ukrainian examples from project management discourse. The study asks how borrowing, calquing, equivalent translation, descriptive translation, and lexico-grammatical transformation can be selected according to term type, communicative context, audience, and document function. The analysis shows that no single strategy is sufficient: standardized roles, artifacts, and acronyms often require retention or dual labelling, while transparent compounds and document names often require Ukrainian equivalents or calques. The article argues that functional equivalence, terminological consistency, and glossary-based quality assurance should guide translation decisions. It also states the limitations of this conceptual approach and indicates the need for future corpus-based and practitioner-oriented research.
