Summary/Abstract: Administrative translation, alongside legal translation, represents, today, a large part of the mass of translation requests. The growing need for translations of administrative documents of all kinds, the number and variety of texts to be translated have raised numerous problems in practice, some of which are recurrent. The difficulties that translators face are often linked to the so-called “untranslatable”, namely words or expressions belonging to the source language, impossible to correspond in the target language due to the cultural vacuum. The present study will be limited to the field of administrative translations, focusing on the problem of the cultural void from a comparative and contrastive perspective. The article will try to draw attention to some distinct aspects of the specificity of the need for administrative and legal translation, in relation to socio-cultural contexts. The study will attempt the analysis of a minimal corpus, but which will be able to gain in generalization force by developing an analysis model and guidelines in the translation process. The research will also integrate aspects related to translation quality and evaluation (product orientation). The research methodology will be based on qualitative aspects derived from critical reading of the literature, evaluative comments, content analysis, case study, etc. Furthermore, the research will fit into the lines of the continuing concern of specialists regarding the harmonization of specialized translation methods, emphasizing the importance of such an approach from the practical point of view, which has as aims to improve the services of translators.
