Analysis of combat engineering support for soldiers based on the example of folding infantry entrenching tools

Summary/Abstract: This paper analyses the issue of failure rates of folding infantry entrenching tools in the context of their suitability for combat engineering and sapper support. A comparison was carried out between folding entrenching tools and entrenching tools with a fixed handle, with particular focus on their mechanical strength and ergonomic usability. The study was based on a field experiment involving earthworks involving trench digging. The study results enabled an assessment of the reliability of both types of tools and the formulation of conclusions regarding their practical application in field conditions, as well as recommendations.
