Summary/Abstract: In this article, we discuss the economic aspects of children’s lives in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. We consider various meanings of economics, from anthropological to market-based, and how they reveal themselves in children’s world. We analyze how children are perceived as subjects and objects of economic actions. We show how, during and immediately after the pandemic, the situation of children was described in the language of market economics. We also analyze the pandemic experiences of children who participated in three research projects on the pandemic. The article highlights the role of consumption, the impact of the pandemic on children’s daily lives, and the importance of social exchange. We emphasize that the economy of childhood during the pandemic is multidimensional and relational, and children’s narratives combine economics with emotions, food, friendships, and play. In children’s narratives about the pandemic, economic matters do not occupy a separate place and are not considered in isolation from other spheres of life.
