Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes letters published in the weekly magazine 'Świat Młodych' ['The World of Youth'] between 1978 and 1989 as a source of knowledge about the self-awareness and economic imagination of teenagers in the late Polish People’s Republic. Based on correspondence from readers and editorial materials, the article reconstructs ways of understanding money, saving, paid work, and everyday budgeting in conditions of crisis and inflation. An analysis of the source material shows that young people discussed and evaluated the mechanisms of money circulation and their own place in the economy, and 'Świat Młodych' served as an intermediary between economic education and everyday life.
