Summary/Abstract: The text is an attempt to analyse Polish songs created during the period of the Polish People’s Republic from a queer perspective and to answer the question of whether non-heteronormative themes were present in them. The author examines songs from four decades – from the 1950s to the 1980s – written by famous lyricists such as Jeremi Przybora, Agnieszka Osiecka and Andrzej Mogielnicki, and performed, among others, by Wiesław Gołas, Jan Kobuszewski and the band 2 plus 1. The author identifies more or less explicit queer themes, but argues that they appeared almost exclusively in a humorous and cabaret context. Nevertheless, they are part of Poland’s non-heteronormative history – a history that is often forgotten, but certainly worth remembering.
