Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes actions of the European Union within the area of supporting the political and economic transformation of Croatia. In the article, he presents the main forms of the activity and instruments applied by Brussels with reference to this country, in the effect of which its accession to the Union was successfully completed. According to the author, the actions carried out by the Community within the area of the Western Balkans very clearly show that the Union plays the role of a normative superpower in this region. It focuses primarily on propagating values which are of vital importance to it, such as: democracy, human rights, social market economy.
