Summary/Abstract: This jurilinguistic analysis looks at the semantic and terminological evolution of a number of medical terms that have become legal terms (“adverse events”, “effets secondaires”, etc.) particularly following the Covid-19 pandemic, and at the linguistic challenges posed by these evolutions in the extralinguistic contexts of societies experiencing health and socio-political crises. The affective and contrastive jurilinguistic approach is anchored in a short-term diachronic perspective which is occasionally brought in to clarify a manually constructed corpus (English, French) made up of medical, legal, political and media texts belonging to the years 2019-2024.
