Summary/Abstract: The article examines the linguistic and aesthetic function of fantasy in the phraseological units of Romain Gary’s novel La Vie devant soi. Through a linguistic and discourse-based analysis, the study demonstrates how fantasy transforms fixed expressions into instruments of creativity, symbolic resistance, and humanistic revelation. Particular emphasis is placed on two emblematic phraseological units – “les rumeurs d’Orléans” and “avoir une peur bleue” - which illustrate how language becomes a space of imagination, ethical sensibility, and compassion
