Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the issue of the lack of a typology of fashion photography. The author points not only to the multifaceted nature of the phenomenon of fashion itself and its interpretation in contemporary scientific discourse, but also to the wide range of photographic practices used in the creation of visual messages related to fashion advertising. Among other things, the text reconstructs Georg Simmel’s thoughts on understanding the phenomenon of fashion and then translates them into a reflection on the medium of photography. The author presents a proposed typology of fashion photography and discusses its elements, using specific case studies. The final part indicates the ambivalence of fashion photography, which manifests itself at many levels of the interpretation of this phenomenon, and suggests the need for further in-depth research in this area.
