Summary/Abstract: The programmatic poem "Ideea" represents the peak of the pyramid in Camil Petrescu's lyrical creation and contains the essence of the concept of poetry enunciated by the writer. In the idea he saw the symbol of elevated thinking, the quintessence of human spirituality. The high degree of spiritual endowment also implies the grace that turns the purest abstraction into a living notion, full of meaning. For Camil Petrescu, whoever felt what presence means has experienced moments of poetry, because poetry is substance in uniqueness. He was an adherent of poetry's dependence on reality, which was considered the starting point. The poet's aspiration was to see beyond things, to see the Idea, as stated at the opening of the first volume of poems, in the work that sets his program. To create means, for Camil Petrescu, to choose the particular, significant, pre-existing element. Ideas must be brought to life and passed through the fine filter of subjectivity.
