Summary/Abstract: This paper presents Fritz Schütze’s method of narrative interview. It outlines the research procedure, the stages of interpreting empirical material, and the relationships between researcher and narrator. The text also introduces the possibility of involving the narrator in a stage referred to as the analysis of knowledge. This approach emphasises the importance of portraying the narrator’s life story not only from the researcher’s perspective, but above all from that of the narrator. In this way, the narrator becomes a co-researcher, an equal partner in the research process from the moment of initial contact through to the stage of joint reporting of results. The narrative interview method, its analytical procedure, and course of implementation can be applied in andragogy to illuminate the relationships between research participants that foster understanding and discovery of the individual’s everyday world, experiences, and life events.
