Summary/Abstract: This study investigates whether there is room for dirāyah in qirā'ah practices within the context of the concept of arba' al-zuhr as found in the relevant literature. In pursuing and searching for the answer to this matter, care has been taken to maintain a holistic approach without compromising any aspect of the investigation. Subsequently, the study sought to identify the general direction in which the evaluations of qirā'ah scholars have evolved on this matter. The findings obtained were compared within the textual context and in the light of the views expressed in various works, and the conclusion was tried to be reached by methods such as analogy and inductive reasoning. The research revealed that reading styles commonly practiced by the qurrā', such as wasl, sakt or basmala which are applied in the transition between the sūrahs of the Qur'ān, differ when it comes to the Qiyāmah, Mu'affifīn, Balad and Humazah sūrahs. Although these four sūrahs are described by classical scholars with terms such as well-known, distinct, and prominent, the absence of an independent study addressing the variant recitational practices concerning them served as the primary motivation behind this article. The study also seeks to determine whether the differences in practice regarding these four sūrahs are based on transmission or reasoning. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the differences in practice generally based on isti'ādhah and basmala, and specifically centered around arba' al-zuhr stem not from the Prophetic tradition, but rather from the tradition of the qurrā'. It was also found that these practices are not based on transmission, but are instead the result of the reasoning and judgment of the qurrā', and that these practices have not been rejected by later scholars of Qur'ānic recitation.
