Summary/Abstract: ELECTORAL SYSTEMS CLASSIFICATION is a case of scientific problem belonging both to political science and mathematics’ domains. While system of Single Non-Transferable Vote is classified as a plurality system by most authors, and system of Single Transferable Votes as a plurality system by some and as a proportional by others, mathematical analysis of these systems shows that they both have certain characteristics of proportional systems. On the other hand, analysis of empirical data is necessary to judge if those characteristics play really important role in usage of STV and SNTV in political practice.
