Summary/Abstract: THE POLITICAL THEORY, similarly like the whole knowledge in social science, permanently evolves and enriches itself with new interpretations, forms and methods. This article discusses problems of postpositivistic turn in political theory that inspire new trends and forms of examination in political science. For the most part it is a result of the alternative to the positivism epistemological assumptions that are linking to the critical realism. These assumptions imply mutable (variable) opinions on matters relating to multidimensionality of investigations, range of generalization political theory, its axiological commitments, and transformational dynamics of the theoretical reflection about politics. These problems are very often and widely discussed in the Western literature; however, in Poland they are being discussed relatively rarely. Meanwhile, the representatives’ opinions of the post positivism make a significant contribution to the important scientific debate over the pattern of scientific perception, and the formulated polemical arguments strongly influence the development and identity of the political science, particularly its theoretical achievements (theoretical realization).
