Summary/Abstract: This study examines the short story “La Inteligencia Definitiva” by José María Merino through Bernard Stiegler’s concepts of grammatization, pharmakon, and generalized proletarianization. Rather than reading the story as a conventional technological dystopia, the article explores how technical systems reshape human thought, desire, and meaning-making. Technics is understood not merely as an external tool of control but as a constitutive force that organizes the conditions of human experience. Focusing on the narrative rupture in the story’s ending, the analysis argues that the technical system does not eliminate symbolic thought; instead, it reorganizes it according to its own logic. This process reveals the dual nature of the pharmakon: while technics promises improvement, it simultaneously subjects symbolic production to technical rationality. The study contends that the greatest danger of contemporary technical systems lies not in the disappearance of the human, but in the transformation and rewriting of symbolic subjectivity. In doing so, it offers a critical perspective on the relationship between technics and meaning production, contributing to contemporary literary studies.
