Summary/Abstract: Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil’s Solgun Demet stands out as a significant work reflecting the traces of Romanticism within the literary atmosphere of the Servet-i Fünun period. The author intensely explores individual emotions shaped by social transformation and Westernization, especially through the inner worlds of female characters. The decisive role of coincidences in the plot, melancholic moods, and emotional intensity are the main elements that reinforce the romantic character of the work. The internal conflicts experienced by female characters, social pressures, and the impossibility of love overlap with the main themes of Romanticism. Halit Ziya sometimes sets aside the objective and observational perspective of Realism, giving priority to the emotional world and imagination of his characters. This approach leads to the shaping of events in the stories not by logical causality, but by emotional intensity and coincidences. Furthermore, the author’s direct interventions in the text and his poetic style are other prominent aspects of the romantic narrative. In conclusion, Solgun Demet demonstrates how influential Romanticism is in Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil’s literary identity. The work is important not only for its depiction of individual emotions and tragic loves, but also for its critical perspective on the social structure and gender relations of the period. In this respect, “Solgun Demet” can be considered a valuable example showing how the transition between Romanticism and Realism is blended with the author’s unique narrative style in Turkish literature.
