Summary/Abstract: In mid-1918, Marian Seyda, a member of the Polish National Committee (PNC) in Paris, travelled to the United States. He aimed to meet Ignacy J. Paderewski, the Committee's representative in the United States, for the first time, and to present the Committee's political programme and activities to the American Polish community, which supported independence efforts politically and financially alongside the Entente. The lack of coherent organisation and communication between the largest Polish-American organisation, known as the National Department, and the PNC hampered political action, while criticism undermined confidence in Polish politicians in Paris. Seyda's trip aimed to counteract these problems.
