Summary/Abstract: Caring about linguistic correctness is not only a matter of linguistic activities. In a broader sense, it is a patriotic duty because language can be seen as an expression of the nation, especially when it is deprived of its land. Poles who found themselves in exile in Great Britain took many actions to preserve their national identity. One of them was the establishment of the Committee for the Protection of the Purity of the Polish Language, at the initiative of the Ministry of Religious Denominations and Public Enlightenment, in whose work scientists, journalists, writers and soldiers participated. The Committee operated for less than a year (from autumn 1944 to spring 1945), but managed to complete several important tasks, including lectures, a literary competition for Polish youth, a course for translators, a language clinic, and a "Language Corner" in Polska Walcząca. Despite the Committee members' commitment and the successful finalisation of projects, knowledge of their activities is negligible - there is a lack of information across all available sources. This article aims to fill a gap and pay tribute to all the activists who selflessly devoted their time and energy to the fight to preserve Polish national identity abroad.
