Summary/Abstract: In the context of Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature, Alma Zornić represents a distinctive authorial figure, one of the few writers on the regional scene who, within her creative opus, narrativizes the collective experience of the mythical and the occult, which retains its authenticity while simultaneously being (re)shaped within a contemporary literary context. The fundamental structural elements of her prose are precisely orally inherited stories (eternal, in constant motion), but not those that are sufficient in themselves as such; rather, those that reflect the power of the story: its incessant movement and acquisition of new forms, new playfulness, actualizations, and the need for enjoyment in the text and in the story itself. This paper examines the peculiarities of her prose world: it uncovers the thematic and motivational parameters of the mythological heritage, their influence on the construction of stories, as well as the spatial and temporal determinants of the text. A diversity of narrative positions and inherited stories is observed: from those tied exclusively to Bosnian-Herzegovinian heritage (Bašeskija's Dead) to those that transform myth into a universal image and magic of the world (Once Upon a Time in the Dark Night). The works of Alma Zornić cannot be lightly classified as genre literature (alluding to the label of horror story writer); rather, they represent an eclectic postmodern spirit that combines and redefines traditional heritage within contemporary narrative challenges.
