Data, Information, and Knowledge in the Supply Chain

Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses information flows within the supply chains, including the flows of data, information, and knowledge. The aim of the paper is to characterize the demand of enterprises with respect to data, information, and knowledge, as well as to analyze the ways and conditions of data processing and know-how development in the supply chains. The empirical analysis is based on the results of a survey made among enterprises in 2012. Special attention is devoted to the key areas of data analysis, subordination of data processing to business relations, creating and developing of knowledge, and the main actions taken by enterprises in this respect. The author also admits the role of the maturity of the supply chain in which the enterprise is functioning.
