Summary/Abstract: This article aims to examine the phenomenon of social change in Sezai Karakoç’s poetry from a sociological perspective. The study analyzes the social critiques embedded in Karakoç’s works and the underlying dynamics of these critiques. The main research question of the article is how themes such as modernization, tradition, cultural degeneration, and social identity are addressed in Karakoç’s poetry and how these themes relate to social change. The research employs qualitative analysis methods to conduct a thematic examination of Karakoç’s poems. During this examination, the prominent social and cultural motifs in Karakoç’s poetry were identified, and their connections to the processes of social change were revealed. In particular, the study closely examines Karakoç’s criticisms of modernization and Westernization and how these critiques resonate in his poetry. The findings of the research suggest that Karakoç presents a profound critique of the phenomenon of social change in his poetry, demonstrating a strong inclination to adhere to traditional values in the face of this change. In conclusion, Karakoç’s poems are considered both a resistance to social change and a deep questioning of the problems of the modern world. A prose piece related to the subject and three poems by Karakoç have been selected for analysis.
