Summary/Abstract: Education aimed at developing key competences must not omit the formation of the research attitude, understood as a readiness to independently construct knowledge, formulate questions and critically analyse phenomena. Various sources, including school textbooks, can be an inspiration for undertaking this type of activity. This fact obliges their authors to include research tasks in their didactic content. Research Aim: The aim of the research was to seek an answer to the question about the extent to which school textbooks for mathematics education support early childhood education teachers in organizing classes that enable students to solve research tasks. Method: This article presents an original and novel model of division of mathematical research tasks, which was used as an analytical tool in the review of textbooks for mathematics education at the first stage of education. Results: The analysis sought to answer the questions: "What types of mathematical research tasks occur in early childhood education textbooks?", "What is their percentage share in relation to all tasks?" and showed that such tasks occur in the discussed teaching materials in a limited way. Conclusions: Such a situation may significantly hinder the formation of students' research attitudes and the development of competences related to problem-based and creative thinking, especially in the context of the dominant role of the textbook as the basic tool of didactic work in school practice.
