PSYCHOSOCIAL FACTORS AND WORK STYLES AS PREDICTORS OF OCCUPATIONAL STRESS AMONG ONCOLOGY HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA

Summary/Abstract: Occupational stress represents one of the most significant challenges affecting healthcare professionals working in oncology settings. Continuous exposure to suffering, uncertainty, complex therapeutic decisions, and end-of-life situations places considerable emotional and cognitive demands on medical staff. This study explores the relationship between psychosocial work factors, individual work styles, and occupational stress among healthcare professionals employed in a specialized oncology institution. A total of 60 healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, participated in the study. Data were collected using the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ III), the Job Stress Survey (JSS), and the Survey of Work Styles (SWS). The findings indicate that elevated emotional and cognitive demands, combined with work styles characterized by excessive professional involvement and time pressure, contribute significantly to occupational stress. The study highlights the importance of organizational and individual interventions aimed at promoting resilience, professional well-being, and sustainable oncology care.
