Methodological Orientations in Educational Research and Their Significance for the Shaping of the Theoretical and Practical Thinking of Educators

Summary/Abstract: The presented text serves as an attempt to answer the question about the possible ways of shaping the theoretical and practical thinking of educators, i.e., such considerations regarding the educational reality that are supported by educational theory and for which it provides vital impulses for reflection on educational practice and its possible transformations. The key thesis that has been formulated here indicates the need for researchers representing diverse methodological orientations in educational research to seek the truth about education (especially in its axiological and ethical dimensions). The author indicates the traps and limitations of such searches performed in each orientation. She also presents some proposals and examples of research solutions developed by educators representing different methodological orientations, aimed at critically approaching the truth about education or reaching the level of intersubjectivity in the process of giving credence to the results of their own scientific quest.
