Representativeness and Sample Sampling – Breaks and Continuations in the Scope of Conceptualization

Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the issue of sampling in observational studies and the representativeness of these samples in relation to the population in terms of the characteristics under study. The aim of the article is to present the variability in the conceptualization of these issues, which also have consequences in the field of educational research. The article refers to classical interpretations published in both domestic and foreign literature and provides examples and simulations illustrating conceptual differences and similarities. As a result, the utilization of existing or the creation of new integrative approaches is proposed.
