Summary/Abstract: Computerization within the public administration is a prerequisite for the economic and social development at the level of the entire society and the promotion and implementation of information technologies at the level of the public institutions lead to the alignment of the national economy with the international standards. As the international economy is based on knowledge and electronic means, and their non-use can become a brake on the progress and development of a nation, it is imperative to promote a modern type of administration, based on technique and knowledge, and which will have important results at the level of the whole society, will change mentalities and shape a different kind of organizational culture. The introduction of computerization in the public administration generates many advantages in the society, the most important ones referring to the reduction of public expenditures, the fight against bureaucracy and corruption at the level of public institutions, boosting the transparency of the use and administration of the public fund sand improving the access to information and public services in accordance with the legislation on the protection of personal data and free access to information of public interest. The paper presents the top technologies used in the Romanian public administration.
