Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the issues of music education analyzed in the context of students’ attitudes towards the teacher and music lessons. It presents a review of selected studies on these issues, which were conducted among students at various stages of education, as well as adults referring to their memories. Research shows that the teacher plays a significant role in shaping students’ attitudes towards this area of education. Many people have a positive attitude towards music lessons, but are critical of the unfavorable structure of the content of the subject, in which theoretical issues prevail over active learning and practicing music. Students also have a negative opinion about classical music present in the lessons, and they expect more popular music, which is closer to them, to be included in the curriculum. At the same time, they call for significant changes to be introduced in these areas.
