HILMI HUSEIN TASLIDŽALI BOSNEVI AND HIS MANUSCRIPT

Summary/Abstract: Under the conditions shaped by the establishment of Islamic culture and civilization in our region by the Ottomans, literacy, education, and literary activity among Bosniaks developed within the framework of a new Islamic cultural sphere, primarily through the main Islamic languages: Arabic, which functioned as the language of science, law, and theology; Turkish, which served as the language of administration and secular literature; and Persian, the language of poetry. Bosniaks, like other peoples who entered the sphere of a more advanced Islamic culture and civilization, had little alternative but to incorporate their literary expression, as well as their broader public activity, into this cultural framework, contributing alongside other Muslim peoples to its affirmation and development in the Balkans. Hilmi Husein Taslidžali Bosnevi (Hilmi ibn Husayn, Tašličawi, Bosnewi) is one of many Bosniaks who composed their works in the Arabic language. He belonged to the ranks of the ulema, and thus the majority of his manuscript corpus is of a religious character. This paper aims to present the available manuscript works of Hilmi Husein Taslidžali, providing basic information and notable details related to his writings, in accordance with accessible sources.
