Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an analysis of Turkisms in the works of Muhamed Abdagić, including two novels: Zemlja and Tatli džan; and four short stories - Harbija, Junak ili hajduk, Posljednji Mohikanac (The Last of the Mohicans) and Sinovci. Abdagić employs Turkisms as a distinctive expressive device to evoke the setting, mentality, character traits, and inner world of his protagonists. Turkisms will be presented in their basic form, and classified into groups according to different criteria: origin and way of creation during adaptation in the Bosnian language. This approach requires a comparison of the form of Turkisms in the selected work with the original form from the Turkish language, which we find in the dictionary of A. Škaljić. This way of analyzing the excerpted lexicon from several aspects was necessary in order to obtain a clearer and more complete picture of Turkisms in the selected works.
