Summary/Abstract: The diversity of Muhamed Abdagić’s literary production strongly confirms his authorial role within the contemporary Bosniak literary scene. Few writers have succeeded in shaping such broad generic diversity while leaving a recognizable mark in almost every field they explored. Although he first emerged as a poet, Abdagić later published three plays in a single volume, thereby entering a new literary domain. His dramatic texts are characterized by thematic richness, linguistic coherence, and stylistic freshness, which justifiably allows them to be regarded as distinctly contemporary. Through these works, the author not only follows the currents of modern drama but also opens new ways of literary expression, announcing the later generic breadth of his opus. Of particular significance is the posthumously published play Ramiza, which attracted considerable attention from both audiences and theatre practitioners in the year of its publication, recording numerous performances in local amateur theatre. It clearly differs from the author’s previous works, relying on an authentic local dialect, tradition, and a cultural memory, the play carries strong cultural as well as linguistic and semantic value. Abdagić constructed Ramiza on the basis of a true event, yet integrated its plot into the recognizable motif of tragic love, thus bringing it into dialogue with classical literary works, both authored and oral. Especially noteworthy is the presence of the old Sjenica dialect in the characters’ dialogues and monologues, as well as the use of Oriental loanwords and archaisms, which authentically evoke the spirit of the time and the cultural layer in which the action unfolds. Considering that Bosniak drama still lacks sufficient representation within the focus of scholarly research, the analysis of the linguistic structure of Abdagić’s works, particularly Ramiza, represents a valuable contribution to the study of the Bosnian language and the literature of Bosniak authors.
