Summary/Abstract: Our study focuses on a very important theme in Orthodox spirituality: hesychasm and its rebirth in our country in the 18th century, through Vasile de la Poiana Marului and Paisie Velicikovski. In the 18th century, the hesychast movement was completed by the appearance of the philolocal current. We can observe, however, that this spiritual rebirth is due to the faces of monks who embodied through their lives and works the spirit of the most authentic tradition of monasticism, in which the emphasis is placed on the spiritual experience of communion with God through the struggle against passions and the prayer of the heart. The monastic life in the Romanian Countries maintained its momentum for several decades, especially thanks to the disciples of Abbot Vasile from Poiana Marului and Paisie Velicikovski, who continued the synthesis between Chinovian life, hesychasm and patristic studies.
