Summary/Abstract: The analysis we propose in the following pages is considered necessary, as it highlights those categories of lexemes and morphosyntactic structures that have acquired a high frequency in Romanian electoral campaign texts. These elements serve, on the one hand, to express attitudes towards current and even future social issues, and, on the other hand, to indicate the strategies that stimulate the development of electoral programmes and the specific features of political discourse. Thus, the present approach involves an analytical framework structured according to the levels of language, namely:the identification of representative words for the political programmes under investigation;their classification into lexico-grammatical categories and the delineation of recurrent types of utterances;the determination of rhetorical-pragmatic and stylistic resources. We note that the selection of examples was carried out in accordance with the ideas promoted and their frequency of use within the excerpted corpus. The corpus analysed consists of electoral discourse, including interviews, press conferences, televised debates, as well as excerpts from communication on social media platforms. The selection of the corpus components was made based on their relevance to the research topic and covers the period between 2003 and 2004.Therefore, the 2004 electoral campaign provides an appropriate context for a comprehensive retrospective analysis of political discourse, allowing for the identification of common characteristics from a diachronic perspective. At the same time, it offers an overview of topics such as the evolution of domestic and foreign policy themes, the role of the mass media in campaigns, and the use of propaganda tools in promoting candidates.
