Summary/Abstract: The Mosul dialect, a variant of northern Mesopotamian Arabic, is primarily spoken in northern Iraq, particularly within and around Mosul. While scholarly interest in Iraqi Arabic dialects is increasing, the Mosul dialect has received comparatively less attention than more widely studied varieties such as Egyptian, Levantine, and Gulf Arabic. This grammatical investigation primarily examines the syntactic structure, morphological processes, and internal diversity of the Mosul dialect. Employing descriptive and comparative linguistic methodologies, the study analyzes the dialect's sociolinguistic variability, negation patterns, word order, and noun-verb morphology. The study's conclusions are based on interviews with native speakers, a review of existing literature, and examinations of various Arabic dialects. The findings indicate that the Mosul dialect, while shaped by interactions with adjacent languages and internal sociolinguistic factors, retains certain conservative characteristics typical of Arabic dialects in northern Mesopotamia. This research contributes to the literature on Iraqi Arabic dialects by emphasizing the importance of the Mosul dialect in understanding the general classification and grammatical evolution of Arabic dialects.
