Summary/Abstract: The article aims to demonstrate the process of collection, organization, and recording of archival materials, essential stages prior to the digitization process. Within the structural framework of the Coal Mining Museum in Zabrze, the Mining Documentation Center was established. The Center is intended to take over documentation from closed hard coal mines and other units related to mining activities. The acquired documentation is to undergo the digitization process and be made available on the Internet. The first acquisition of documents was obtained from the liquidated Office of Mining Studies and Projects in Katowice. Before commencing the digitization process, it was necessary to organize and record them. This task was quite tedious and time-consuming, but essential for the subsequent stages. The acquired documentation needed to be given an appropriate structure and divided into archival units. Subsequently, it was to be recorded and paginated, and possibly subjected to conservation repairs.
